Additionally, the districts of Palghar, Thane, and Raigad are under a severe to very heavy rainfall warning from the IMD that is in place till August 6. Pune and Satara are under a red alert for extremely heavy rain in the next several days, while Mumbai, which is already experiencing high winds and heavy rain, is under a yellow notice for today.

In general, mild to moderate rains are predicted over the following two days. On August 4, however, more rain is predicted, both in terms of amount and severity, with strong winds predicted in the evening and overnight. It is probable that isolated ghat areas in the Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra regions could witness heavy to extremely high rainfall.

The IMD has issued a nowcast notice for moderate rain in certain areas of Palghar, Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg during the next several hours in addition to the warnings. Mumbai’s Regional Meteorological Centre has indicated that the city would continue to experience high winds and rain.
District Collector Suhas Diwase has declared the closure of NH 753, the route that leads to Tamhini Ghat, due to heavy rainfall damage, in the midst of these weather warnings. The impact of this restriction on travel and transit in the area will last until August 5.

The IMD has given a favorable forecast for the remainder of the monsoon season. According to the department, the developing La Niña conditions will result in normal to above-normal rains in India in August and September. During a press conference, an IMD official stated, “Monsoon rains in August are expected to be normal at 94-106 percent of the long-period average.” Authorities and locals have been urged to remain vigilant and ready for any disruptions or emergencies as Pune and the surrounding areas prepare for the impending heavy rains. The stretch of NH 753 (the road leading to Tamhini Ghat) will be closed until August 5 due to severe rainfall and damage to the road. Diwase made this announcement.

Ajit Pawar has explained in the post that there is heavy rainfall in the catchment area of Khadakwasla, Pavana, Mulshi, Chasakman dams in Pune district.
