Yerwada metro station is set to open by 15 August.

The much-awaited inauguration of Yerwada Metro Station is scheduled for August 15 and promises commuters in Pune better connectivity. Hemant Sonawane, executive director of administration and public relations, Maha Metro, stated that the Yerwada Metro station is all set to commence its functions on the given target date.
The opening of the Yerwada station was going to be delayed earlier because of the model code of conduct due to the Lok Sabha elections, which had put work on the entry and exit gates to a standstill. The issues, however, have now been sorted out, and the station will be getting ready to serve commuters.

Besides the Yerwada station, the Swargate Metro Station is also likely to be thrown open to the public by September 15, thereby completing the first phase of the Pune Metro project. The underground stretch from Civil Court to Swargate, including stations at Budhwar Peth and Mandai, has been a focus of the project.

In fact, the Pune Metro has already completed trial runs on this route. The inter-station distances on this route are 0.85 km from Civil Court to Budhwar Peth, 1 km from Budhwar Peth to Mandai, and 1.48 km from Mandai to Swargate.
Moreover, work on the PCMC-Nigdi stretch of Pune Metro has commenced. This will be an elevated viaduct of 4.519 km in length, with four stations—Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, and Bhakti-Shakti. This ₹339 crore job has been awarded to RVNL, which will complete it in 130 weeks.

It is the opening of the Yerwada and Swargate stations that are up next in line, along with the PCMC-Nigdi stretch that also started the groundwork; with the Pune Metro, the idea is to give citizens of the city efficient and accessible public transport.
