Pune’s Kamala Nehru Hospital in Kasba Peth was thrown into chaos on Wednesday morning when it was evacuated due to security concerns. The situation led to the detention of three individuals by the police. The incident initially lacked details until Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sandeep Singh Gill addressed the media later in the day.

DCP Gill explained that the turmoil began on Tuesday evening when an individual posted images and a message on social media alleging that some foreigners were residing illegally in India. The post, which circulated on WhatsApp and was reported to the police, identified three individuals who were later spotted at Kamala Nehru Hospital for health check-ups.According to Gill, “The social media message had reached people at the hospital, who then suspected that these individuals might be illegal immigrants. They alerted the police, who subsequently arrived at the hospital and took the three into custody for questioning.

“The verification process is ongoing, with authorities examining the authenticity of the detainees’ Aadhar cards and other documents. “We are investigating their origins, duration of stay in Pune, and reasons for their visit. We have also contacted the police in their claimed places of residence,” Gill added.When questioned about the presence of weapons, Gill confirmed that no such evidence was found. “Our investigation is thorough and no weapons have been discovered,” he said.Prior to the police briefing, BJP leader Ujwala Goud, who had shared the original social media message, commented on the situation. Goud reported to The Press , “I received information from our party workers about individuals speaking Bangla and acting suspiciously in Lohia Nagar.

I posted on social media asking people to report these individuals to the police. This morning, the police informed me that the individuals were located at the hospital. From their attire and the suspicion they aroused, some at the hospital even believed they might be carrying a gun.”The investigation continues as authorities work to clarify the situation and determine the true status of the individuals involved.
