The citizens have been staging protests against the municipal corporation since the potholes in the area have turned out to be in bad condition.

The ongoing construction of metro and flyover has reduced the traffic flow considerably on Pune – Ganeshkhind Road, which faces serious problems due to stones scattered across the roadway. The falling of a boundary wall erected by the Municipal Corporation before the erection of girders of the flyover has forced the Pune Municipal Corporation to increase tripled compensation amount while sending notices for indemnity to the PMRDA. Correspondence in this regard has been sent and Rs. 13 lakh and 70 thousand compensation amount has been sought from the Municipal Corporation. Currently, PMRDA is engaged in constructing the metro line from Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi via Ganeshkhind Road. The same location will see construction for a two-tier flyover at Acharya Anandrishiji Maharaj Chowk and Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk. In view of the traffic congestion, the Municipal Corporation has taken up a project for widening the road up to 45 meters.

Widening work is going on between Nanavati Bungalow and RBI on both sides, with the road department officials having carried out inspections some days ago. Heavy cranes were engaged by the PMRDA for installing the girders of the flyover, and a single crane stood on the footpath during the installation work.

This has caused wide-scale damage to footpaths, cable ducts, DWC pipes, carriageways and boundary walls in front of ABIL House, properties of Anand Mohite and Ujwal Mohite and NH Dhaba. The cranes totally occupied the footpaths at several places. The road’s subbase of NH Dhaba has been damaged due to dumping of soil on the newly laid WMM.

Since the PMRDA is the department constructing the flyover on Ganeshkhind Road, it is their responsibility to look after and repair the road. The citizens have been staging protests against the municipal corporation since the potholes in the area have turned out to be in bad condition. In the recent inspection to be done for road repairs, it has been mentioned that at the time, the Municipal Corporation had losses from the PMRDA.

Accordingly, the cost of border wall is 13 thousand 236, footpath 2 lakh 75 thousand 991, NH dhaba culvert 80 thousand 700, ABIL house 75 thousand 38, Anand Mohite’s income 12 thousand, total loss is 4 lakh 56 thousand 965 rupees. It has been asked to pay three times the fine of Rs. 13 lakh 70 thousand 897.
