Union Cabinet Approves Rs 2954.53 Crore Extension for Pune Metro Phase – 1
The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the extension of the Pune Metro Phase-I project.
The new extension, known as Line-1 B, will connect Swargate to Katraj via an underground line, adding 5.46 kilometers and three stations to the existing PCMC-Swargate route.The extended line will serve crucial areas including Market Yard, Bibwewadi, Balaji Nagar, and the Katraj suburbs.
The project is expected to enhance connectivity in Pune and is slated for completion by February 2029. With a total estimated cost of Rs 2954.53 crore, the funding will be split between the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra, with additional contributions from bilateral agencies.
