Pune: There were concerns that the construction of a flyover at Vishrantwadi Chowk might interfere with the Metro project. However, MahaMetro has now put those worries to rest. They’ve confirmed that there will be ample space to accommodate the Metro pillars, ensuring that the flyover and subway work won’t obstruct the Metro development.

The flyover and subway are being built to alleviate traffic congestion at Mukundrao Ambedkar Chowk in Vishrantwadi, with the ground-breaking ceremony taking place before the Lok Sabha elections. This area is also set to be part of a proposed Metro route.

Former Deputy Mayor Dr. Siddharth Dhende and former corporator Anil Tingre had raised concerns that the ongoing flyover and subway construction might leave insufficient space for the Metro project. In response, Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol called for a meeting to address these objections and requested a pause in the flyover work for clarification.

Following this, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Project Department shared the plans for the flyover and subway with MahaMetro. A subsequent meeting between the two agencies confirmed that the current civic projects will not impede the Metro work, and there will be enough space at the chowk for the Metro pillars.
