Reliance Industries has announced a major plan to develop and offer AI services in India. At its Annual General Meeting (AGM), the company revealed its plans to launch JioAI by Diwali 2024. Along with AI services, Jio will also introduce JioTV and Cloud services.

Mukesh Ambani, Reliance’s chairman, highlighted the “Welcome Offer” for Diwali. This offer will include 100 GB of free cloud storage with AI services. The aim is to make these services powerful and affordable for everyone.

The first JioAI service to launch will be JioPhone Call AI. This feature allows users to record and store their phone calls in Jio Cloud. It will also provide options for transcribing, translating, or summarizing the call recordings. Users can start recording by pressing 1 on their phone and stop by pressing 2. Reliance also stressed the importance of cybersecurity with this service.

Jio aims to democratize AI by making it accessible on budget phones, such as the JioBharat feature phones. This is different from other companies that focus on high-end devices for AI features.

In addition to JioAI, Reliance will introduce JioTV OS. This new operating system will upgrade existing Jio Set-top boxes. It will offer UltraHD content (4K resolution), Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. JioTV OS will also integrate with the Hello Jio voice assistant, which can be controlled using the Set-top box remote.

JioTV OS will not only match competitors like FireTV or GoogleTV but also use Generative AI to evolve and launch new apps. It will connect with smart home and IoT devices, and users will get an app for IoT setups. The JioStore app will also be included in the OS.

Reliance is also launching Jio TV+, a service that will provide access to various apps, OTT platforms, and live TV channels. Users will be able to watch movies and shows on demand and switch between channels seamlessly.

With these new offerings, Reliance aims to enhance its service range and make advanced technology accessible to a broader audience.
